With the Ping Anniversary Coming up, I would like for your consideration for a lipdub music video featuring none other but us pingsters!
Lipdubs are a type of video that combines lip synching and audio dubbing to make a music video. It is composed of filming individuals or a group of people lip synching while listening to a song or any recorded audio then dubbing over it in post editing with the original audio of the song.
One example of an awesome lipdub that I've seen is this one from the awesome Senior Junior :
Mlm : more or less, firstly download the song and then play it and record yourself or with a group of pingster friends via webcam, camcorder, camera with video function - basically anything with a decent video recorder.
One done, email me or upload it to yousendit if the filesize is huge and send me the link to edit later.
The end of submission would be end of June so that I'd have enough time go through the video and edit it in time :-)
And finally I'll email each participants the link to download the completed copy for your own use :-)
Need more particpants tho! I'm targetting at about at least 15!
1. If you're shy, its alright! Can cover your face like cobaltpaladin
2. If you cant dance, dont worry! Its all for the fun of it
3. You can do it in a group or alone, however you like it :-)
i am interested, however, i will not be able to receive updates through the forum or email as much as I wanted... I will be stuck in camp 24/7 soon... zzz...
Ok, those who want to do the badger dance do feel free to start another thread :-)
Alright comrades! We are almost ready to start!
There are two ways in doing this, one of it being that all of us get together and we do a continuous shot from the beginning of the song to the end, but I foresee that we could have logistical problems, that not every one of us will be able to make it at the same time.
Hence, lets do this method instead :
Individually (or with your friends) film yourselves, dancing, acting basically doing whatever fun things like what a libdub would be like. It would be good to add in a ping element, so we could print out the ping logo on a A4 size paper and stick it to a white envelope (or anything more solid)
From there we can try to pass it from the left to the right (so that the next libdubber can pass it to the next, making it appear continuous! A pretty spectacular solution right? (thanks for the idea Malique and NTT!)
3. Dont forget the A4 Ping Logo! Print it out on an A4 sized paper and stick it to a white hard paper (e.g. Envelope). The logo can be downloaded here : http://rinaz.net/ping-highres.jpg
4. I anticipate that the size of the videos to be large so when done, upload to yousendit.com and email the video to me.
5. Just be natural and do what you like and dont stress out, this is a fun collabo!
We've got till about 23 of June, so we have good time to think about poses/dances/action to do :D
Priss - you could collaborate with a friend to record in the instance of e.g My camera doesn't have good video quality, I prefer to do it with so and so. You can do it with me if you want too! Or maybe we can do a mass one as in the reply below
mlmaestro : I encounter the problem of not everyone being able to make it at the same time. And I think that doing it in small groups or individually makes it more interesting - kind of like a patchwork quilt with the different actions/poses/dances :-)
But at the same time, yes, it would be interesting to have an entire group too! Its doable so, yes! If most are free at the same time, and willing to, we can have a mass lipdub.

Gar... I probably can't make it. But why don't we get some of the better videographers in the community to do the filming? It would look so much better. Like this one:
Jayden : would be good to have a full song then can do post editing :-)
Farinelli : I anticipate that not everyone would be able to make it and logistics wise, it would be very difficult to get people together. Actually I much prefer if people do it individually or with the people that they are comfortable with and then stitch it together like a community quilt.
And with the ping envelope, it'll make it look continuous without having to have everyone in the same area/room/place. Moreover everyone can have their own flavour and dance and moves :)
I am worried that having a lot of people at the same time for the logistics and coordinating because everyone has their own preference of moves/dances/actions and I don't want to cramp anyone's creativity.
As mentioned in the posts above, you can do it with a friend or many friends that you are comfortable with. Its not fixed that you *have* to do it alone. I'm leaving it to everyone do be free to go to where they want to go, to move as they like to move, to act with who they want to act with.
Fari's continuous lipdub is impressive, but realistically, we arent students, many of us are working and we dont have the liberty to meet everyday and to rehearse everyday.
But at the same time I do understand that there will be some people who might have some issues like not having a videocamera, prefer to do it as a group, etc and for that, we could set an outing just for these people.
Again, there is no hard rule for lipdubbing, its all in the name of fun!
In anycase, I hope to put up a video on "How to Lipdub" hopefully by the end of the week to get it started :)
Why don't we have a gathering to flim the video. Those who cannot make it on that day but still wish to join in, can flim themselves and we edit in. That should solve the problem of those not having a good webcam and stuff. :)
